Project Brief

The redesign of the Targeted Solutions site focused on use of graphics and headings to create a skimmable, yet informative layout.

A large part of the project was the creation of a user system, which allows company executives to seamlessly share documents and presentations with each other, and with clients.

 

 

 

CLIENT RPI Study Group

Client Description

You’ve arrived at a place where RPI students can come together and collaborate in their classes. Currently, our main emphasis is on sharing homework solutions, back tests, and more.

RPI Study Group is a large, high-traffic student resource at Rensselaer. The site currently sees over 13,000 hits per month. It also includes text-book swapping and classified sections.

Project Brief

The focus of the RPI Study Group redesign was on making the site easier and more enjoyable to use, while increasing the visual appeal and, ideally, traffic.

This project included creating a brand-new identity for the site, and completely re-designing the user experience and interface. The site’s back end is a Ruby-on-Rails app developed in-house, tailored to our specific needs.

We are currently contracting with a development team and are in the final stages of completion on this project.

 

 

 

 

CLIENT Retail Optimization Group

Client Description

The Retail Optimization Group knows from first hand experience that doing things the way you have always done them doesn’t work with today’s problems. We offer small business owners c-store consultants who have a real world experience in the areas that you need help.

Today’s small business / retail industry is in rapid transition. To stay or become successful the dynamics of this competitive environment means always looking to upgrading in all areas of the business. C-Stores must look to offer an increasing array of services, take advantage of technology, and determine what will attract more customers and greater dollar purchases per visit.

Project Brief

The web presence for The Retail Optimization Group communicates professionalism and effectiveness. From the dynamic banner on the homepage, to the beautiful but lightweight navigation and page content.

The website serves as an informational resource for potential clients. It is also SEO optimized to generate traffic and leads automatically. In addition, we developed a system to integrate background-screening resale. This involved developing a user management system, in addition to a PHP-based secure handshake script for passing users to the reseller site.

Through our SEO work and optimized information layout, we have seen search engine traffic grow by almost 200% in the first month of operation. Overall traffic is growing as well, with over 1500 page views in the last month.

 

 

 

 

 

CLIENT Rensselaer Student Senate

Client Description

The Student Senate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute serves and represents the interests of the student body, developing projects and passing legislation within the RPI Union involving academic affairs, facilities, student rights, and all other topics pertinent to the student body.

At RPI, students truly have the power to make a difference on campus. The Student Senate, chaired by the Grand Marshal, is the chief policy making body of the Student Union. The Senate is responsible for bringing change to campus,everything from academic reforms to Concerto, the campus-wide digital signage system.

Project Brief

The Senate is a relatively influential and historical group on campus, and the branding reflects that. However, we felt that it also needed to convey a professional tone without being to simple or dated.

Projects for the Senate included an entire re-branding, which consisted of a refreshed logo, new letterhead and stationery, and a website redesign. Another large project was the style guide or ‘brand book,’ which details design, logos, and color schemes to use for Senate materials. We also created graphics for the annual conference which the Senate holds at the beginning of each term.

We also recommended the creation of a group to handle media and design in the future, naming the committee and branding it.

 

 

 

 

 

CLIENT Bring Back Zwack

Client Description

He’s Michael Zwack, a third-year undergraduate student at RPI in the Lally School of Management & Technology pursuing a Business & Management degree. He has interests in legal affairs and public policy, and hopes to continue his education in an area of those interests and someday help shape a better world.

He was elected last April as the 143rd Grand Marshal, which is the highest-elected student government position at RPI, charged with the legislative role of the Rensselaer Union; an $8.5 million budget administered by students. He is the chairman of the Student Senate and student-body president, representing his peers to the administration, faculty and community-at-large.

Project Brief

Michael Zwack approached us about three weeks before the campaign period was set to start, tasking us with branding his re-election campaign. We felt that, as a college-level politician, he had a chance to use a strong image and powerful message in an edgy and exciting way.

Projects for the campaign included designing and coding an interactive, single page website. We also designed several 24″x36″ full-color posters as part of the print campaign.

We also created the website for the political party behind Zwack, the Vector Party.

 

 

 

 

CLIENT Hedgeye, Risk Management

Client Description

Hedgeye Risk Management is the leading real-time research firm. Focused exclusively on generating and delivering actionable investment ideas, the firm combines quantitative, bottoms-up and macro analysis with an emphasis on timing. The Hedgeye team features some of the world’s most regarded research analysts – united around a vision of independent, un-compromised real-time investment research as a service.

Project Brief

A large part of Hedgeye’s content delivery is in the form of the website. The website is basically a research portal, designed to be an interesting and effective way to communicate the information, but it also is important to be clean and appealing.

Most of the work done revolves around the website, including a Full Website Redesign in early 2010. Hegdeye is constantly adding new functionality and tweaking the system. We do a lot of mock-up development for new features and sections. These then go to a development team, who implements them on the site.

We also work on their social media outlets, like a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a YouTube channel. This involves not only stylizing these sections, but also some marketing and advertising as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CLIENT Success Systems

Client Description

Success Systems, Inc., specializes in providing “best in class”, turnkey store automation services to convenience stores, repair facilities and traditional gasoline retailers. The company believes that understanding the day to day pressures of our customers is mission-critical in a successful relationship.

We offer in-depth PC and web based applications designed to improve the knowledge of your store operations. Store owners can increase their stores’ profit by scanning and better controlling their margins and operations through any of our c-store automation tools.

Project Brief

Our work with Success Systems consisted mainly of redesigning and building their website from the ground up. The site had not been stylistically updated for close to ten years, which meant that an entirely new design needed to be created and implemented on a new platform.

We re-branded almost every aspect of the company as well, including new product icons. These are also used in the Product Finder tool, which we designed and built in XHTML/Javascript for quick performance and widespread compatibility.

One of the largest goals of the project was to better organize product information and other content within the site. By dividing the homepage into column and row sections, we structure the information in a relevant and readable way. The size of the type and use of graphics also aid in making the new site much more navigable and usable.
